The supposed problem with pure subjectivity shows when one who makes a stylistic judgement expresses his attitude, and that is all there is to be said about it.
Evenly problematic is the opposite: if I'm patently detached and even methodological, then I must be preaching.
So it is a rather stylistic problem, in the deepest sense of 'style', in which to discover the right style is to discover what you are really trying to do.
